about us
🏡 What is the Kilner Park Ratepayers’ Association?
The Kilner Park Ratepayers’ Association (KRPA) is a voluntary association of property owners in Kilner Park who have come together to establish a legally recognized body with the aim of improving our area and fostering a sense of community – for the benefit of us all.
- All work (administrative, managerial and ground level) is done by volunteers from within the community.
- From time to time, we may need to appoint contractors to assist with specific tasks, and these services will be funded through members' contributions.
- Members do not receive any monetary compensation for the work done, but the reward of seeing the improvements in the community is a reward in itself.
🤝 Why form or join the KRPA?
There are several civil society organizations active across the greater Pretoria and Moot areas, all striving to improve their communities.
However, the KRPA is exclusively focused on Kilner Park — stretching from:
- 🧭 Colbyn Wetlands in the South
- 🛣️ Stormvoël Road in the North
- 🛑 CR Swart Drive in the West
- 🏡 Cornelius Street in the East
As a formally recognized ratepayers’ association, the KRPA enjoys legal standing in the eyes of local authorities and other government bodies.
As our membership grows, so too does our influence — enabling us to initiate meaningful improvements such as:
- ✔️ Enhanced safety and security
- ✔️ Maintenance where the municipality falls short
- ✔️ Stronger community cohesion and shared purpose
By joining the KRPA, you:
- Gain a right to vote on key matters
- Can get involved alongside like-minded residents
- Help build a better, safer, and more vibrant Kilner Park
🔄 Is this meant to replace other organizations?
Not at all. The KRPA does not aim to replace existing structures. Instead, we seek to collaborate with other active organizations in and beyond our area to promote and protect the interests of Kilner Park.
📥 How can one join the KRPA?
You can read the KRPA Constitution and download the membership form directly from our website:

We encourage all residents and property owners in Kilner Park to get involved.
💰 What does it cost?
- All members contribute R100 per month, as voted during the launch meeting.
- This modest monthly contribution reflects your commitment and empowers the KRPA to:
- Procure materials
- Hire services where necessary
- Fund community-benefiting projects
📅 This fee will be reviewed annually at the General Meeting, during which all members will have a vote.
❓ Why pay extra when we already pay rates and taxes?
Imagine a strong wind tears off the roof of your house. Your insurance rejects the claim.
Do you sit in the rain — or do you make a plan?
While we are all legally obliged to pay rates and taxes, it is no secret that the Municipality is often unable to fulfil its service delivery mandate in our area.
We can either:
- 🛑 Resign ourselves to a declining environment
- ✅ Take proactive steps to improve our neighbourhood
~ We choose the latter ~
We choose to work together to uplift Kilner Park — for the benefit of our community and for the preservation and enhancement of our individual property investments.
As a collective, the KRPA also gives us:
- A stronger voice to demand accountability
- A more effective platform to advocate for change at the local government level
